A Guide to Stormhaven Writers Guild

First off. Thank you for being here and taking an interest in the Stormhaven Chronicles and the Stormhaven Writers Guild. My name is Gavin Sealey. I’m the original author of the Chronicles. I’m not going to dump a load of info about me or the Chronicles just yet.

The Stormhaven stories are released episodically rather than as a single completed work so conceptually they resemble a TV series more than a book or a film. As indicated in the introductory discussion between characters Nat and Boz, the purpose of these stories is more than just entertainment or distraction, it is the exploration of concepts about ourselves and the world. I think that is the deeper purpose of all fiction.

The Stormhaven Chronicles take place in the fictional world of N’Ume. They start in the city of Stormhaven – but N’Ume is a big world so they don’t end there. This world, even the city is more than big enough for all of us and our stories. And that’s the invitation, not just to read about the world and its characters but to extend them – to use the Stormhaven Chronicles as a platform for writing and sharing your own stories.

The Chronicles are a continuing story. Sometimes they are in graphic novel form, sometimes it’s plain text, sometimes there’s a link to an audio narration on YouTube, sometimes an episode might be present in the form of interactive fiction. I’m experimenting with forms of presentation and I invite you to do that too.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to become a member of the Stormhaven Writers Guild and to build, expand, and explore the world of N’Ume through shared storytelling.

In a place like this, flexibility would be key. You’d need to learn to roll with whatever comes your way, maybe even enjoy the randomness. It’d be about embracing the chaos and seeing it as a new adventure each day. Every moment could feel like an exploration into the unknown. You’d probably need to stay grounded (or find ways to do so), but life would always feel alive with surprises!

As a newcomer. I am offering a friend first approach to this community, as I seek to align and settle in. I welcome any support offered to help me with this and I bring my skills of happiness, energetics and positivity as my contribution to your kind hospitality

Once settled and accepted, I would offer support to those charged with mediation, resolutions and community cohesion, as a worthwhile contribution to the town, for a reasonable monthly sum
